Interact with Zoe

Hello there,

I really love interacting with everyone and I would love to get to know you too! Sitting behind a computer can be lonely and so having the opportunity to chat with you (albeit online) helps to make that online time more exciting.

There’s a bunch of places you can find me,
Private Facebook Group,
Instagram for Make it Crafty
Personal Instagram,
Periscope, (Periscope Replays)
those are the main ones I try to keep up with.

Sign up for the NEWSLETTER over on the right hand side. I send out news on the new products, discounts and sometimes even send freebies. 🙂

Colouring Tutorials

I have been writing in depth colouring tutorials over the last few years. They take a very long time to write so it seems I really only get 1-2 out per year so far.

They are available to purchase from here >>

The e-books include all step by step instructions with photos as well as printable pages so that you can print and follow along.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I colour with?

My Favourite medium is Copic Markers – mainly because I have spent many hours using them and so I am now comfortable.

Paper I use is called Make it Colour paper but I also recommend Hammermill, ExpressIT or any smooth paper around 250gsm – 110lbs. My friend Barbara is amazing and does wonders on regular printer paper so just go with what you have on hand. 🙂 My point is – don’t get hung up on the paper you are using. There are many fantastic papers and I suggest getting used to one that is readily available near you.

How long have I been colouring? About 6 years

Do I have an art degree? No, I started colouring with markers as a beginner just like most others, but I do have an eye for design as I have been a web designer for many years.

How long have I been crafting? Ouch! This answer hurts! 20 years! I bought my first stamp, some embossing powder and a couple of tombow pens when I was about 16!

What other mediums have I tried?

I have a set of Prismacolor pencils and I love how soft they are, but I don’t like how easily they break.

I have a few Polychromos and I love how fine I can sharpen them without breaking and the ability to get fine detail over the top of my copic colouring.

Watercolor Paints

I am still experimenting with watercolouring but I do love the distress inks for background and I like the cheap little Koi Traveller paint set I have.

What are Digital Stamps?

Digital stamps are images that you can save to your computer, resize them, rotate and flip, create scenes without masking and more. Then you simply print them out and colour and create your project.

Printers for Digital Stamps

Personally I have an old Canon iP4700 that’s still working great for me. I use the original Canon inks.

Laser Printers are ideal – BUT the issue is the thickness of paper you wish to put through the machine. If it is too thick, it will either get stuck or destroy one of the drums it is passing. There are not many laser printers that can accept thick paper.

Inkjet printers – the inks cause the problems. Some work fine, others smudge a little and some are terrible. If you are looking to buy a new printer, I highly recommend going to a crafty forum and asking what printers people are using at the time. Things are always changing and so any recommendations I make here will be outdated in no time.

Update: I recently purchased an Epson XP-324 so that I could take advantage of their special DURAbrite inks which are waterproof and can print ‘digi stamps’ onto watercolor paper.

BUT, I am finding that the ink can smear a little if I do not let it fully dry before using COPIC markers. I need to do some more testing but just wanted to make mention of it.

Periscope Viewers

I really love to teach and now I am over my nerves I am really buzzing over the idea of Periscope and have to stop myself from jumping on to share things with you. 🙂 I wanted to create this page so that I could easily send viewers to a page where they can follow up products or people mentioned in the scope.

Coming Up on Periscope!
