My Colouring Tutorials – The latest is extra Special!

——————————————————————–

Hi Everyone,

Wow! The last number of weeks has been hectic but fabulous too! Every ‘spare’ minute I have been working on creating these colouring tutorials and I have to admit that I was just so nervous about releasing the first one.

It took me so long to finally decide to go ahead with the colouring tutorials as truth be told, I was worried that having offered a lot of my thoughts and ideas on colouring over the last couple of years that you may think I was being ‘cheeky’ to ask you to pay for more of my thoughts and ideas! But, as you can imagine, these tutorials take me a long time to write, the thought process, what will work well together, the colouring, photos, how to explain it so you can understand without me sitting there… And I just hoped you would find that of value. :) And… from the feedback I have received, you have encouraged me to continue and document more of my ideas on colouring our favourite little characters! Thank you!!

So so far I have released the, Colouring Techniques with Markers e-book, Shading with a Light source e-book – Now available as a combo too! – and…. guess what?

I am excited to be releasing another colouring tutorial on my absolute favourite topic…  HAIR!! But not any style of hair… This time I have jumped right in to show you how I achieve beautiful detailed hair with fine flicks and lots of depth.

Colouring Long Hair with Fine Detail!

I share a little technique I made up to try and show you what goes on in my head then I take you through the process of building hair. I will tell you upfront… this is not an easy process. It takes time, patience and practise but if you can get the basics and grab the concept then practise will make you perfect!

Now there’s something extra special about this tutorial. I needed a special image that was going to test your boundaries. Something that I could show you how to break up sections of hair, create depth and highlights as well as being full of body so you can experience creating the texture of hair with ‘space’. I knew the perfect style of image would be by Krista Smith of Saturated Canary. When I contacted Krista and told her my plan I was thrilled when she suggested she could illustrate and donate the image for the tutorial! How amazing is that?! And then… my mouth dropped when she sent through the image. She was just PERFECT for this tutorial!! And I had to laugh, when krista said… and in case you want to know – her name is Zoe! haha  Seriously, I thought, people are going to start thinking I have a big head naming all these characters after myself!!  I didn’t this time!!  promise!!  haha

Krista sweetie – Thank you so much for sharing the PERFECT image for this tutorial!! Big Squeezes!!

Would you like a chance at winning a copy?

I will be giving away TWO copies to two lucky people who leave a comment on THIS post and I will announce the two winners Monday 27th August on my blog here and on Make it Crafty Fan page on FaceBook.
If you can’t wait and want to go ahead and buy it now, if you happen to be randomly chosen, I will refund your money. :)

BUT there is a catch – when you leave your comment – I want you to include your favourite hair colour and or colour combo if you have one!! But only ONE! Not two, three – or you can’t decide… I know you have a favourite! :)

I think it’s time to see what you will be colouring! And I even made a card!! woohoo!

Hasn’t Krista just illustrated THE perfect head of hair for this tutorial?!?! You know when I was first talking to her I said… Krista, even if you could just draw me some hair!! No face or anything – just your gorgeous hair!!  She must have thought I was insane!!  (and I have likely since confirmed that!! lol)

Well I sure hope you like the latest tutorial and I really hope that it helps you on your colouring journey.

Thank you for all your support everyone!
You’re the best friends to have and you really know how to make me feel special too!!

OMG Zoe she has such amazingly beautiful hair. I wish you could come and colour my hair so it looked had such beautiful shine. My favourite way to colour hair is using the E40s. Well, its not really a favourite it just what I do because I’ve never even considered anything as radical as red or blue (that I saw on the hop) or mixing the colour families. OMG how scarey would that be! I definitely need plenty of practice and inspiration. cheers Linda

  82. Susanne August 25, 2012 at 10:12 pm - Reply

Absolutely beautiful! This is so inspiring. I think I need lots of practice…. ;-)

  83. Sharon Brown August 25, 2012 at 10:35 pm - Reply

Love your coloring….but you are making this one very tough. I get stuck on coloring hair…meaning, I get caught up in browns, then reds, the blacks….and right now it is blonds…so my favorite blond combo is E34/35, YR 23, Y21 and Y 15. With the combo colors I vary depending on how the shading looks after I am done and may add the darker colors as an afterthought.

Thank you Zoe for all your hints and tips on colouring. If it weren’t for you, I’d still be in the pre-school phase xxx

I’m not surprised at the amount of compliments that you have recieved on your e-books. Your coloring is always so amazing, and the fact that you are willing to share your techniques with us is a gift that keeps on giving!

Thanks for the chance to win your e-book. My favorite hair color would have to be brunette. I know all of the different shades of color that I’ve seen in my hair over the decades, so it is easier to understand the concept of why hair is so difficult to color. You’ve made me think out of the box on so much of my coloring already, so I want to take this opportunity to thank you again for all of your help.
