Make it Colourful – Ch#1 – Warm or Cool Colours

Zoe January 8, 2011 20

Hi Everyone,

I am so excited that the new challenge blog MAKE IT COLOURFUL has finally begun! Thank you so much to the many of you who have spread the word because you love to colour too!

We hope that you will enjoy playing along with our challenges and be inspired by the creative team of ladies from around the world!

Update as I write this: Haahaa
I am having a little freak out moment as I am writing this 8 minutes prior to when the post is supposed to go live.Plus my scheduled post on the colourful blog now has not gone live and so I am ripping my hair out trying to push it through!! Nothing ever runs smoothly right? tee hee

On to my card!

I had such trouble trying to decide what images I would use and at the last minute completely went in a whole different direction which has left me scrambling!!

In the end I decided to go with a manly theme using predominantly Cool Colours.

I thought I would have fun showing how Aussie Santa can be turned into a regular Aussie Joe. We have just had an Aussie BBQ designed to compliment Aussie Santa. Of course it features a number of the traditional foods found on our BBQ’s, with some prawns thrown on, a big steak and of course some snags!

Here is a close up of the image

As mentioned earlier in my post, I decided to go with cool colours. Aussie Santa is wearing a traditional workman’s blue singlet (unfortunately it’s a bit bright really) with his khaki shorts and blue rubber thongs. He’s wearing an Akubra hat and of course he’s drinking a Vic Bitter beer!

I have included some information on the challenge post that helps show the warm and cool colour choices.

Here’s a list of the Copic Marker colours I used:

Hat: E30, E33, E17, blender
Skin: E000, E01, E11
Singlet: B21, B24, B26, B28, B93, B95
Shorts: YG91, YG95, YG97
BBQ: C02, C04, C05,C07,C09
Prawns: Eo1, E11
Sausages/handles: E13, E17, E19

Beard… ummmm too many, mixture of greys, browns and yellows

Thanks so much for stopping by and I do hope you will join us over at Make it Colourful!

Hugs & take care

Zoe xxooo

Hahaha! LOVE it Zoe! Very traditional downunder BBQ. Those snags are cooked to perfection too! Now you need a Santa bending over the barbie, showing a bit of Santa crack! LMAO! Hope you’ve had a good sleep too! Viv xx

I love all the green. The pattern on the DP reminds me of fish swimming by; intentional or not, it makes the paper very masculine.

This is great. I have such a hard time with guy cards. I love all your work, I am always learning from you. I was wondering what paper do you use to color on?

This is fantastic Zoey! I love the colors you chose and the BBQ is perfect. Totally reminds me of our summer grill-outs here in the south. I need help getting that white shading. I use Prisma’s and try and try but I seem to be doing something wrong???

I swear that your coloring of his shirt folds makes it look 3-d. I almost expect to be able to reach out and feel it! Certainly looks like he’s having a marvy old time of it.
