Hi Everyone,
Hope you had a great weekend. I was spurring on my friend Maria to enter a challenge and said I would play to. I think I just needed an excuse to have a bit of a play and finally ink up miss Tilda that was STILL in her packaging!
I followed the sketch from Magnolia Down Under Challenges – harder than it looks!! If you saw all the pieces of cut up paper on my desk right now, you would see there was a girl in distress!
This card is a little ‘pretty’ for me. I was totally out of my comfort zone and it still feels a bit weird. Glitter EVERYWHERE!! heehee
It all started with Midsummer Tilda of course. Normally I colour quite dark so the challenge began with the clothing. I knew this when I decided to buy her (hence why she was probably still in her packaging). With a light flowing outfit, she needed light colours and I wanted to attempt colouring to ‘white’ which perfectly fits into the Charisma Cardz challenge – Try Something New.
So I worked on blending the colours down to white. What really helped to make it pop though was when I added a darker shade of the pink and blue in some areas to help define it a little more. I even had to drop back on my shades for the skin and started with E0000 as my base and the darkest was E01.
I’ll let you in on a secret – This was the 4th attempt.
I couldn’t decide on the best colours to get the effect I wanted. I need more practice! I hate to imagine trying this using reds!! Hmmm maybe that should be my next self challenge.
Here is a close up.

I am pretty happy with it. Happy how the pleats turned out and the sleeves which I wanted to share with the ladies at Copic Creations
Hair could have been better though. Think I went a bit too dark on the right hand side.
I coloured her outfit first in this case as I knew I would be using the blender a lot and that the paper would become really soaked. So there was a lot of clean up around the edges.
The rest of the layout… well. I don’t know what is wrong with me. I just don’t seem to have the knack some days! Do you feel that way too?
I do love the Websters trim though. I used some trim across the card and then cut some for the leaves and of course a gorgeous turquoise bloomers flower. They are sooo pretty! I also made and altered my own hat pins to match.
Well that’s all from me today.
Thanks for stopping by to see my bit of fun.
Hugs

It’s good to get nudged out of one’s comfortable place once in a while, isn’t it?
Thanks for sharing!
Well I think you did a fabulous job! Card is gorgeous Zoe!! We are sometimes our own worst critic and yes working outside your comfort zone is a good thing. It makes the creative adventure that much more fun and interesting. Hugs, Maria
Well Zoe, you’ve certainly mastered a new for you technique, your colouring is fantastic. As for trying it with reds – go for it girl!!! I usually do reds with the R20′s but that’s just my personal preference.

Thanks for sharing this with us at Copic Creations.

I love how you extended your folds far beyond the lines of reference that the stamp artist provided. Beautiful work! Thanks for sharing.
Geez – you are tough on yourself! A beautiful card Zoe. I love the glitter, lol, but I’m a girly girl. Its nice to see you colouring your Maggies. And this one is so lovely. Love the papers and pins too.

Hi
It´s amazingly beautiful
Just stunning! Thank´s for joining in this week
Love your take on the sketch

Great job on the blending to white. I think it is an area where many struggle as I see lots of pics with a strip of colour around the inside edge and huge uncoloured areas in the center, kind of like an aura on the inside. Yours has white areas, but it is blended well and it is not the predominant colour. You have a good foundation of skills, so I’m confident that when you decide to tackle the challenge with red you’ll do just as well after a bit of practice.
This is just stunning! My favorite! Thanks so much for playing along in the challenge with us!
I think your card is fabulous – your colouring is just BEAUTIFUL. Thanks for playing along at MDUC.
Are you for real Zoe!!! ‘Not happy with the hair’!! You must suffer from OCD ‘coz I’d kill to shade hair that good! LOL
Your LO is perfect too. If I could colour to half your standard, I’d be SO chuffed I’d burst!! Your rose is impeccable and all in all……I’m just jealous!!! ;0)
