I was looking through the TiddlyInks store and stumbled across the ‘White Queen’ and thought her dress would be perfect to colour with ‘sparkles’ just like the gorgeous dress warn by Elsa in the movie Frozen.
I jumped on Facebook this morning and went ‘Live’ whilst I coloured her. If you would like to view the video, pop on over to watch.
I began by colouring the background so that I could be sure to keep the hair and dress lighter. Sometimes I find I can go too dark and not leave enough highlights if I colour the image first.
Then I coloured her skin, hair and dress.
Background: B32, B34, B37, B39
Skin: E000, E50, E01, E93 / RV52, RV34
Hair: 0, W1, E51, W3, E43, E84
Dress: BG10, BG11, BG32, B00, B02
And finally finished by adding all the little dots for sparkle!
Sparkles: Pilot 0.7 Metallic Blue, Metallic Green, White and Sakura Glaze white
After colouring the image, I cut it down to size using the Lawn Fawn stitched rectangle die and then I sponged the edges with distress inks – Broken China, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot
Continuing with the theme of Frozen I wanted to add some snowflakes in the background but I didn’t want them to overpower the design.
Use two little mini snowflake stamps, I stamped the background with clear ink and then sprinkled with a clear glitter embossing powder and heat set.
Leaving a delicate background that adds a little texture and sparkle without detracting from the image.
I am working on my Christmas cards so of course I went with a Christmas sentiment. I coated the bottom layer with white embossing powder and the top was coloured with distress inks and coated with the same clear glitter embossing powder.
The ‘Merry’ was stamped and heat embossed as well and then all glued into position.
I adore the end result. Clean but eye catching.
I hope I’ve inspired you to sparkle up your images!
