This is probably the most productive card making week I have had in… hmmm ever… lol
Honestly I feel like I have found my ‘zone’. I am so inspired by the techniques and videos I have been watching and I especially love the style of Debby Hughes. Check out this pinterest board… warning you may be stuck a while.
Of course I am adding my own flair to the style too – I mean I have to somehow fit in a coloured image somewhere right? haha
Today’s card would have to be my favourite in a long time. I felt so comfortable making it and it felt like ‘me’. I wasn’t trying to use flowers and ribbons and blah blah… just nice clean simple layers.
This card was inspired by Debby’s “Stamped Die Cuts – Alphabet Stamps” project on Day 3 of the ‘OCC – Stretch your stamps 2‘
I didn’t have any ‘word’ dies so I had to ahem… get one… lol and finally I found just what I was looking for – MFT – Happy Hellos Die-namics. There are six words – “hello & hi” in different fonts, so it is quite a good one that will be able to be used for lots of different projects.
I started by inking my new ‘DIY’ heart stencil. Then I cut out the Magnolia Cloud Die and using a rubber mat I embossed the stencil on the cloud. I added some mounting foam and lined up the hearts when I positioned the cloud.
Next I made the ‘friend’ element. I cut the scalloped circle from a spellbinders die and then I stamped the ‘friend’ stamp (stampin up) multiple times with versamark ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder. I sponged the background with tumbled glass DI.
Then I cut the ‘hello’ die from red cardstock three times and glued them together to make them thicker. I stamped it with versamark ink and coated it with clear glitter embossing powder. It looks so pretty..
Finally I cut around ‘Tress Joyful‘ who I had coloured previously for the store images and then I put it all together layering each element with mounting foam. The final touch of sequins, red rhinestones and little star just helped to tie it all together.
Absolutely one of my favourite cards. I think you’ll be seeing more cards like this. 🙂 I have a lot of ‘store coloured’ images sitting here needing a home.
Thanks for stopping by
