Kelly is celebrating on her blog, challenging you to join the fun of Case’ing someone that inspires you and to help motivate you to join the fun there are some amazing giveaways from a bunch of awesome places!

I think ‘CASE’ing is one of the best ways to get inspired and build your skills but when you are ‘inspired’ by someone, it’s always honourable to make mention of that person. Not only does it let others know where to go to see more of that style, but it boosts the morale and confidence of the person you ‘cased’.

I did make the card LIVE on Periscope so if you want to check it out, pop on over to katch.me to see the replay here >>

I wanted to have a ‘watery’ background for this scene and so I decided to use Arches Hot Press 300gsm watercolour paper and I started by stampingĀ Cordelia Rubber Stamp with black memento ink, masked her using ‘Eclipse tape’ and then stamped theĀ Clam Shell rubber stamp.

I began colouring the image with Copic markers and quickly learned that the colours are quite vibrant and aren’t as easy to lighten when using the watercolour paper, but as I began to get used to the properties of the paper and how the Copic markers reacted I was able to change my style a little to compensate.

Skin: YR000, YR00, YR01, E93
Tail: B00, B01, BV13, BV000
Hair: G000, G00, BG23, BG15
Shell: YR31, R32, BV000, B01, RV32

Once I finished colouring the mermaid it was time to experiment with the watercolour background. I wasn’t really sure what the plan was so I just went with the flow. Using Tumbled galss and Peacock feathers distress inks, I spritzed with water and began spreading the inks. THen in the bottom right corner I decided to add some Worn Lipstick too.

Finally as part of my {CASE}ing Kelly – I stamped the ‘Hello’ from Wplus9 Hand lettered Hello sentiment set right on top of the image using Versafine black ink. Then I traced around the edge using a white opaque pen.

To finish the card design I added some flicks of blue, gold and white, added a few sequins and stamped the ‘Gorgeous’ word from the same set.

Be sure to head on over to Kelly’s blog to check out just how AWESOME she is and for a chance to win some goodies too.

Thanks for popping by!
