Calling Cupid?

Candy! Candy! Candy! Don’t miss out!

Hi Everyone,

Wow! I am blushing. Thank you all so much for your comments on my last card. As I was reading through them I was starting to think that I might need to start asking for kick backs! HA Ha!

Tonight I thought I would have a play with one of my new fun characters ‘Aim em up Cupid‘. I think he looks sooo cheeky, and a little bit naughty. Just like I imagine cupid being portrayed in cartoons as a child.

Get Cupid for Valentine’s Day Here!

Again, I focused mainly on the colouring and featured Cupid on a CAS card. I find these so much easier for me… but I keep wondering if I need to add something. For example, I wondered if I should have added some pearls to the corners?

It’s hard to portray in a photo but the ribbon is raised on mounting foam and ‘curls’ around the card rather than being flat. Looks really nice.

I used last years Valentines Paper by My Mind’s Eye – Love Me Do and simply layered and matted with white card stock.

Help finish my whacky sentiment…
I wanted to come up with something a little whacky for the sentiment… “What lengths must one go to… to find True Love?”Β  I just need to think up the rest for the inside. haha. Something along the lines “Calling Cupid?”Β  If you have an idea please add it to the comments. πŸ™‚

Copic Marker colours
Since cupid was all skin and feathers there weren’t many colours but I did go quite rich in colour for his skin.

Skin: E000, E01, E11, E13
Hair: blender, E30, E33, E53
Wings: blender, E30, E33
Bow and Arrow: Y00, Y13, Y17, Y38, YR24 & R29, R24

I would like to share this card with the following challenges:

  1. 7 Kids College Fun – Hot or Cold (Cupid is obviously HOT!) haahaa
  2. Cute Card Thursday – Out with the old (Old DP)
  3. Papertake Weekly – Anything Goes
  4. Southern Girls Challenge – Anything Goes
  5. Papercrafting Journey – Let’s get Digital
  6. Stamp Something – Use a Digi

New! Tid Bits and Q & A time! (If you ask a question in the comments I will respond on my next post.)

Blackbird: “What lines are a bit wishy washy?
Actually I had to go over some of the stamped lines with a black multiliner to try and fix them. The lines around her eyes aren’t crisp and I had to draw in the left eye to fix it up. Just me being picky. πŸ™‚

Debra Asks : “When you use your prisma pencils do you just come in after the copics and shade in without using any white spirits/gamsol?”
No I don’t have gamsol yet. I have ordered some and I am waiting for it to arrive to try. I do all my shading and highlights with copic markers first so really I could just stop there but I have been experimenting to add just that little more pop by adding some darker colour right into the corner or edge with the pencils. Because they are sharp you can control them easier. Sometimes I also take a light shade and lightly colour across the highlight areas. The great thing about the pencils is they are translucent when used lightly so you are only adding a light shine if that makes sense?

Debra: If you ever think on doing some on-line classes or even picture by picture tutorials on folds, I would put my hand up to be an online student!!”
I really want to do some live video classes, however when I mentioned the idea there didn’t seem to be much interest at the time. I may look into it again this year. πŸ™‚

Tracy: “Can I hop on a plane for some sun and lessons?
Hahaa, only if you teach me too!!

Bettina: ProMarkers
I have a few Tria Markers which I believe are the same as ProMarkers. The inks are exactly the same as copics. The only difference is the nib. I am quite comfortable with the brush nib on the copics so it’s a little harder for me to get used to the Tria but I promise you, you can achieve the same results. Just use light strokes when you colour. It is a little harder because you don’t have the brush nib but with the right paper you should do well. Practice, practice, practice. πŸ™‚

Thanks so much for stopping by to see my little cupid.. Don’t forget to let me know what you think I should write inside. πŸ™‚

ooo ooo… I’ll be back later today (tonight) with my card for the very first Make it Colourful challenge! If you haven’t become a follower, pop over so you don’t miss out and of course if you are a colour addict you know what badge you need right?Β  tee hee

Big Squeezes!!

Hi! lovely card and beautiful colouring.
What do you think of something like:
What lenghts must one go through to find true love..
Shooting an arrow seems a bit painfull..
Perhaps a bit too much? πŸ™‚
What lenghts must one go through to find true love..
I would walk around the world for you
    (Too soggy?)

Wow you have amazing colour work skills! I’m so impressed (and a bit jealous if I’m honest) hehe. I don’t think you would need to add any pearls to the corners because your eye is automatically drawn to cupid and stay locked on him! πŸ™‚

Thanks for your entry into the first PCJ Challenge this week and hope to see you back again soon.

β€œWhat lengths must one go to… to find True Love?”
“I am ready to bribe cupid!”

Nice layout. Pearls or no pearls, it’s a small detail, so I don’t think it would change it drastically either way. Maybe you could just snip off a bit of backing around the pearls and try laying it down to get a feel for it without actually committing?

The coloring on this card is outrageous! The shading on his skin is incredible, but the way you did his hair really caught my attention too. Awesome card!
How about “I’ll give it a shot!”

You’ve done it again Zoe. Downloaded the digital but haven’t had time to colour him yet. This is just so perfect for valentines day. I know that my husband will love it when he gets it. Many thanks for the tips to layering one image over the other which I’ve done with your Sassy Violet image and the swing. I did it in Word and I couldn’t believe how easy it was. Please keep the whip poised over your artists, their characters are just fabulous and different.
    Regards Barbara B.

What lengths must one go to… to find true love?
An arrow in the butt seems a little extreme — but if it works…

    Great card and fantastic colouring!
