Howdy everyone,
It’s another day at Whimsy and I decided to go MALE! I am always quickly trying to put a card together when one of the ‘male’ friends or family members are celebrating a birthday, so this will be a good one to have on hand!!
When it comes to male cards my rules are… SIMPLE!! No ribbons, embellishments or all that ‘grandma stuff’ as my other half would say.
The thing is – they don’t even look at it anyway. So I think a nice striking image (preferably male type image), bold colours and clean lines really stands out. And so that’s what I did today!!
Check out ‘Golfer‘ (available at Whimsy Stamps now!!) Isn’t he the perfect dude to throw on a card for a guy. His posture says it all – “Yeah mate, I rock and you know it!” haha
and here is the whole card – talk about simple right?! But I do looove the nice clean lines.
I also used the sentiment ‘You’re a Star’ from the ‘The Fun Life Tickets‘
I stamped it on some plastic packaging bags with stazon ink.
(Yeah I was copying the latest fad! No idea where it originated sorry!!)
I used a really heavy weight white card as my base. When it comes to men I like to use a heavier base just because I think when you feel the weight of something you perceive it as being better quality when it weighs more. It’s a bit like the first impression you get when someone hands you a business card. If it is ‘flimsy’ you get the impression that they don’t really care and subconsciously can think less of them… but when you receive a business card made from heavy weight card or even one that is made of a different material all of a sudden you perceive them better quality. Boy talking about going off on a tangent but hopefully you get what I mean. LOL blah blah…

luv, Mags x
The card is beautiful in a masculine way!
Perfect for a man!
Oh, and i get your point with the weight of the card, I will think of it next time I do a card for male. Males are difficult to do cards for, I think. Like you say, they don´t look at all the little things. Like I do, for example.
Great Manly card! I love your coloring.
Great male card. Love the clean lines.
I totally get what you mean about the heavy weight paper. Makes total sense. I too when buying scrapbooking paper tend to go for the thicker on as I feel it is better quality! Just how my head works:0) Well great card! I have fallen in love with your coloring a long time ago. Always enjoy seeing your creations!

You are so right Zoe, men don’t look at the card, why spend tons of time making it right! I LOVE your image and its perfect without any embellishments, just right.
this is so cute
Wow Zoe! This is so vibrant! Love it.
Another fantastic lesson in coloring by the Queen of Copics – Ms Zoe!! I love the simplicity, you are right too about the weight of the card stock being more important to men than the fripperies of womens cars! Love it, as always, hugs
WOW Zoe~~simple but WONDEFUL!!! Just love how you captured the creases in his pants!!! You do amaze me everytime:)

Great “guy” card! They can be rather tricky (and picky) and look “unfinished” if you don’t get it all right!
