A glimpse at Zoe before Copics!

Zoe February 9, 2011 21

Hi Everyone,

Many of you have shared in my journey of learning to colour, though you don’t really know where my crafting originated as prior to colouring I had been making cards since I was 15. Many of my cards were clean and simple and I was really a ‘stamper’, with embossing powders, rainbow inks, jac paper, stencils, glitter and so forth. I would make many of my own backgrounds with glossy paper and so on.

I didn’t have dies, embossing folders and flowers and stuff. I would trace out shapes I wanted and cut them out by hand. I would make my own flowers if I used them and make many of my own embellishments and so on. I actually made a lot more cards that had moving parts and I especially loved to make shaker cards.

So when I saw Crissy’s new image this month – Floral Heart available from Whimsy -I was instantly reminded of some of the stamps I used to play with and knew exactly what I wanted to do!

I wanted to play with EMBOSSING POWDER!!  Yup! Using a DIGI STAMP!! 🙂

Floral Heart is THE perfect image to play around with when trying this concept. The idea is to print your digi with an inkjet printer onto velum. I learned of this technique months ago from someone on CDAC. I am sorry I don’t recall her name.

I had my settings set to glossy photo paper and on high quality print so it would drop a lot of ink. I had the heat gun preheated, my catching tray right beside the printer and the lid off the embossing powder ready to sprinkle! I probably didn’t need to be so ready but it doesn’t hurt! heehee

As you can see the card is nice, clean and simple. I did use some of my gadgets and added the dry embossed background and used a scalloped square die for a little bit of decoration. 🙂

I stamped the grid pattern using a cheap Kaiser stamp I think.

I stuck the vellum heart after it was embossed to some white cardboard and cut it out so it would really pop.

Here is a close up!

Of course the theme of this card is ‘LOVE’ which ties in perfectly for this months challenge over at Sundays with Crissy. Every few days one of us brings you some new inspiration to help get your mojo going! To enter the LOVE challenge you need to go to THIS POST.

I would LOVE for you to try this technique. It really is fun! Of course you could do this with any image but I am allowed to be a little biased aren’t I? teehee

So with Valentines approaching there are a lot of challenges sharing a bit of LURVE!!

Wow, love the card! I love CAS cards. You can take a simple card and jazz it up so much by using texture and a colour that pops.
